Hello and welcome to 5C's class page. For those of you who do not know me I am Mr Crowther and I am delighted to have all your children joining me for the forthcoming year.
It is that time again where we start a new term. The children have now settled very quickly and are as usual working really hard. Our new topic for this half term is called Sea Turtles. We have already looked at what an endangered specie is, various sea turtles and what their threats are! Children have really taken to this topic which is brilliant because there are lots more fun activities to enjoy! Also, a massive thank you to all the parents who joined in with the problem solving day last term, it was much appreciated I really enjoyed seeing you all join in with the activities. There are some pictures below of the children and parents taking part. The new breakfast club has now started and all the children are finding the menu fantastic personally I am looking forward to using it. In the near future we will be opening up to any parents that would like to join there children at breakfast club, so watch this space! There is however, a new system to pay for breakfast club. Children are being asked to purchase tickets at the office when they would like to come. It will then be a simple case of handing your ticket over to a member of staff without having to bring any money with you.
Can I please remind parent and carers that all children must have an indoor and an outdoor P.E. kit. Indoor will take place on Wednesdays and outdoor on Fridays. Also Homework is given out on Mondays and is due in on Fridays. Please can I have your co-operation for this along with signing reading records for the children which should take place every night.
As part of our year in Base 5 we will be walking down to Witton Park every month to see the changes in the seasons, what happens to the colour of the leaves, pond life, various mini - beasts, temperatures and the size of shadows. All the children are really excited to share this experience and so am I.
This halt term Miss McNeil has taken all year 5 children out into our forest school area. The children have had to come in warm and protective clothing due to the activities and the duration they were outside. I hope your child has told you all about this. They had to work as part of a team, build dens and make fires safely. Even a few marsh mellows were cooked and hot chocolate was drank (I know I was jealous!!) Here are a few pictures below:
