Summer Term in 5H
Well, here I am again. Midway through the Summer 2 term and, as I look out of the window, the summer weather that we are typically used to is with us!! Yes it's absolutely throwing it down - stair-rods to be more accurate. But all's well inside. This morning we had a great start to our topic - The Big Bang - with a visiting planetarium in the school hall - check out the pictures. The children thoroughly enjoyed the visit and learned a lot from the "star-man" We have also taken part in a workshop fun by the NSPCC today which involved the children learning all about the organisation Childline. What a busy morning it's been! Upcoming dates for Year 5 include a visit to Darwen Vale next Tuesday morning (5th July - crikey, July already) to watch their Summer Show, closely followed by Sports Day on Friday morning. Parents are welcome to attend - hopefully the weather - rain - will stay away, fingers crossed. Hope to see you there on Friday in willies, waterproofs and brollies! Ta ta for now.
Please ensure you child keeps up the reading at home and continues to practise their times tables and complete homework. Could I also ask parents to remind children to bring in their Reading Records on Monday mornings as this is when spellings are given out and copied into Reading Records so spellings can be practised at home. Your cooperation in this would be much appreciated. Should any parents need any additional information about what is happening in class, my door is always open so please feel free to call in.
