Thursday 4th March
It's World Book Day! I'm so excited to share with you all of the lovely things we have planned for you today. There are several competitions to enter and some fantastic prizes to be won. Firstly, there is a school-wide competition to decorate a potato. You can use anything you like to decorate it as one of your favourite book characters. See the poster below for some ideas, and even have a look on Google! If you search "Decorate a spud World Book Day" lots of images and ideas will come up. One child from each class in school will be chosen as the winner and given a prize!
The second competition we are running is on Purple Mash. Their theme for World Book Day is "Hope". You have been asked to either write a description of Hope, a letter about Hope, or if you are feeling extra-creative, write a poem about Hope. This has been set as a 2do for you on Purple Mash and I will email entries over to the Purple Mash team, who will be choosing the winners.
Thirdly, I am running two quiz competitions based on World Book Day. I have sent you two different Powerpoint quizzes, one with a Maths focus, and one with an English focus. Please respond with your answers (feel free to work as a family with siblings, parents, grandparents and carers) and the winners will receive a prize from me in school next week.
In addition to all of these exciting competitions, there are also lots of other amazing activities for you on Purple Mash. There is a video lesson of me reading my favourite book, and a lovely Art activity to go with that! Also, you will find some fun reading comprehensions, quizzes and challenges to complete. I can't wait to see all of the wonderful things you create today!
Please submit entries to be by email, ask a parent to send pictures via email or Whatsapp, or Miss Avery will take photos of work from the children who are working in school.
I hope you all have a wonderful day, and I hope to see you on the zoom calls in the morning and afternoon!
Take care and keep smiling- only 2 more days of home learning after today
Monday 22nd February 2021
Good morning everybody- I hope you have all had a lovely half term break and are ready for another amazing week of home learning. I'll be ringing around families today for a catch up- I can't wait to hear how you are and what you have been up to!
To make things easier for the children and staff who are working in school, 6MS and 6BP are now both completing the same lessons as each other. This week Miss Blackledge will be leading our English and Maths lessons and I will be leading all of your foundation subjects. I'll still be looking at all of your work, marking it and sending feedback, and am still available to help you through the 2email feature on Purple Mash, or you ask a parent to call me on my school phone number. An overview of our learning for today is available under our home learning section of this page.
Monday 1st February 2021
Good morning everybody. I hope you have all had a lovely and relaxing weekend and are ready for a new week of home learning. You can find our overview for today under our home learning tab.
I'd just like to draw your attention to the fact that this week is Children's Mental Health week, and as such we will be completing some PSHE tasks and activities this week surrounding mental health and wellbeing.
Mrs Sudworth has kindly added some fantastic resources to the PSHE section in our Home Learning area, so please do have a look.
I'll be sending out an assembly on Purple Mash to launch the week, as well as some extra mindfulness activities for you to complete in your spare time. Don't forget, Miss Dent has also been busy adding resources to the Nurture and Wellbeing section of our class page and there are lots of lovely activities for you to have a go at.
Keep smiling, and take care,

Hello and happy new year to you all!
I know that this isn't the start to the year that we were hoping for or expecting but we will make sure that your child is able to progress with their learning as much as is possible over the coming days and weeks. Click the Home Learning tab underneath for a daily update of the tasks being set.
Here you can send any questions or queries, and they will come straight through to my email, where I can answer as quickly as I am able. Please make sure to fill in your name, so I know who the message is from.
Our topic for this half term is Geography. We will explore the human and physical features of the world using satellite images. We will study the way in which humans ‘survive’ in extreme weather, famine and conflicts. We will also investigate world climate and weather patterns.
