Values Committee

World Religion Day

This week, the Values Committee met to plan for World Religion Day and discuss how to share the message with the school. We talked about what World Religion Day is, why it is important, and how it helps us learn about different religions and beliefs while promoting respect, understanding and kindness.

We created a poster and practised our lines for an assembly, where we introduced World Religion Day and the Interfaith panel, explaining how it helps bring people together and celebrate diversity.

On Wednesday, the Values Committee delivered the assembly confidently and clearly. They shared why listening to others and respecting different beliefs is important and how this reflects our school values of kindness and respect. It was wonderful to see the whole school come together to celebrate World Religion Day.

Badges and Behaviour

This week the Values Committee received their badges, which they are now wearing proudly in school. It has been wonderful to see them embracing their roles and taking their responsibilities seriously.

The committee have also been sharing their thoughts about behaviour in school. I have collected their pupil voice, which gives insight into their views on behaviour and the overall culture at Meadowhead Juniors.

These discussions are helping the committee think about ways they can make a positive difference for everyone in school.

Reflection sheets can work to help children try and change their behaviour, because if they get one, that means they miss 10 minutes of the behaviour treat. When they lose time off the treat, they might change their behaviour so they don’t miss any time off the next one. – Evan

My favourite behaviour treat was the slime. – Lyric

You can go for gold in class, which means you get 5 dojos. If you’re in the top 4 in your class, with the most dojos, you become an MJS Hero. You get a prize on a Friday, and you get an extra own clothes day. – Leena

Behaviour is not all about being good, it’s about showing all of our values, such as respect, and showing them all the time, even outside the classroom, on the playground, in the hall at lunchtime and on school trips. – Marcie

If you’re not making the right choices, you will be put on to the thinking cloud, but you can get back to green, if you start making the right choices. – Autumn

Children in Need

As a school, we are thrilled to announce that we have successfully completed Children in Need’s 25K Challenge.

Our Values Committee played a fantastic role in making this happen. They did an outstanding job promoting the event throughout the school and organised their own fundraising activities by selling Pudsey merchandise to fellow students. They managed to raise an amazing £149.14, which was a huge contribution to our total raised of £607.86

Well done to the Values Committee for their energy, creativity, and commitment. Their efforts have made a real difference and helped us support a very worthy cause.

Fundraising

This week,  our Values Committee delivered their first assembly to the whole school, sharing Meadowhead Junior School's core values of Ambition, Respect, Friendship, Kindness, and Teamwork. They explained how these values will guide exciting new projects and celebrations throughout the school year.

The committee introduced our fundraising event for Children in Need, the 25 Challenge. As a school, we’ll work together to complete 25K in one week by running or walking laps around the playground. Each class will keep track of their progress and collect sponsors to raise money for children across the UK who need our help.

In addition, the Values Committee has been working incredibly hard to support the fundraising effort by selling Pudsey merchandise throughout the week. They encouraged everyone to demonstrate our school values throughout the challenge, showing ambition in setting personal goals, kindness in helping others, and teamwork by supporting one another along the way.

A huge well done to our Values Committee for their inspiring presentation and dedication to making this fundraiser a success!
