Happy New Year!

We hope you have had an enjoyable break and are all ready and raring to go for the Spring term in a brand new decade 2020.

Well we will be starting the Spring term with our new topic called Earthlings, we will be looking at Space in our Science and Topic and using this knowledge to support our learning in English where we will be using a variety of information texts for the first two weeks of the half term and then we will be going into the realm of Science fiction with a new book entitled The Portal.

English in 5CM

We have really enjoyed looking at Charles Dickens this half term and have used actions to help us learn a setting description. We have used some of his writing techniques and vocabulary to write our own setting descriptions using the original as a template.

All the children used the text map to learn the description and performed it to Mrs Chadwick.

Watch this space for some examples of our writing at the end of the term and a video of our text map.

We are so proud of all the children, who are trying really hard to incorporate grammar they have learned into their writing as well as using Charles Dickens as inspiration for their own writing.
