R.E. / R.S.E
Intent Statement
At Meadowhead Junior School, we follow the Blackburn with Darwen RE agreed syllabus, aiming to promote self-esteem, spiritual, and moral development. Pupils are taught about major world religions, developing respect and understanding, without being directed to worship any of the faiths studied. The curriculum prepares pupils to engage meaningfully in today’s diverse society.
The Blackburn with Darwen agreed syllabus for religious education for 2023 to 2028 was adopted from Blackburn Diocese. It is the syllabus to be used by all community schools and is recommended for academies and free schools.
Implementation Statement
The RE syllabus covers Christianity and other major world religions, fostering critical thinking and reflection. Lessons are carefully planned to ensure children explore religious stories, symbols, and texts. Through discussions and various teaching methods, pupils grow spiritually and morally while learning to respect diverse beliefs.
Impact Statement
By the end of Key Stage 2, pupils will be able to identify and discuss religious beliefs, understand the role of faith in people's lives, and apply their learning to their own experiences. The curriculum equips pupils with the skills to engage thoughtfully with others, promoting inclusivity, empathy, and understanding in a multicultural society.
