Hi everyone and happy Friday! I really hope you have all had a good week and are looking forward to a well-earned rest over the weekend. Have a look below for today's learning.

Guided Reading:

Please read Chapter 5 of the online book you have been set and answer the comprehension questions.

Grammar:

In today's grammar lesson, we will be applying everything we have learned this week. Please watch my video lesson and then complete the assessment task I have given you.

Maths:

Today, we will be rounding off our learning on efficient written methods for division with problem solving and reasoning tasks. Please watch my video lesson first and then complete the tasks I have set.

English:

In today's lesson, we will be focusing on the effect of the weather on the atmosphere of the story. Please watch my video lesson first and then complete the task you have been set.

P.E.

Please look at the P.E. tasks set by Mr Crowther in the PE section of our class web page. Please choose three of these activities and complete them at home. Why not get your family involved too!

Thursday, 21st January 2021.

Hi everyone! Thankyou for all of the work you handed in yesterday. I have noticed that some people are starting to hand work in at night time. Please make sure you are completing work in school hours. I am not able to mark work straightaway at night time and you will therefore not get any feedback before the next lesson. I have also noticed that some of you are not watching my video lessons or putting as much effort into your work as you have been doing. Please keep going with your wonderful work. We are learning all about subject/verb/object compliments in today's lesson. Please make sure you watch my video lesson before attempting the task.

Maths:

Because you all did so well with 2-digit divisors yesterday, in today's lesson, we will be learning how to use an efficient written method when using 2-digit divisors and where remainders are involved. Please watch my video lesson before attempting the task and DON'T use a calculator!

English:

We are learning to plot Alma's changing emotions throughout the film in today's lesson. Please watch my video lesson first and follow my instructions. Then have a go at the task I have set.

Art:

Miss McNeil has set an art lesson for today. You can find this on our class web page. Please make sure you complete this task. If you are able to take a photograph of your work and send it to me, that would be fantastic! yes

 

Wednesday, 20th January 2021.

Hi everyone! We've made it to halfway through the week! I have to tell you all that the quality of your home learning tasks is improving with every piece and I'm super proud of you all! Keep going - you're all doing a great job! yes Please see below for today's learning.

Guided Reading:

Please read Chapter 3 of the online book you have been set and then answer the comprehension questions.

Grammar:

Today, we will be going back through yesterday's work and learning how to use the subject and object correctly in a sentence. Please watch my video lesson before attempting the task.

Maths:

After your amazing work in yesterday's varied fluency task, today, we are moving on to using 2 digit divisors. please watch my video lesson and then complete your group's activity.

English:

In today's lesson, we will be continuing our work on describing the shop, however, this time, we will be using figurative language to help us. Please make sure you watch my video lesson first.

Science:

This week in Science, we will be learning all about the flow of blood around the body and measuring the effect of exercise on our pulse rates. Please watch my video lesson - as well as the film clip on our Science lessons page - before completing today's task.

Tuesday, 19th January 2021.

Hi everyone! First can I apologise for the learning overview not being on first thing this morning as usual - my internet went down last night so I've been struggling to put anything on crying It's all sorted now so I'm able to mark your work. Please see below for today's learning.

Grammar:

We are continuing our grammar work on subject and object today. Please watch the video lesson first and then complete the activity.

Maths:

Please watch today's video lesson on dividing using an efficient written method. I would then like you to complete the varied fluency task on Purple Mash.

English:

Following on from yesterday's theme work, today, I would like to to write a first person description of the shop front. Please watch my video lesson first where I will model what a good description looks like for you.

D.T.: 

In today's lesson, I will be asking you to create a questionnaire for the user you identified in last week's lesson. Please watch my video lesson carefully before completing the task.

We will be using the film, 'Alma' this week. Please watch my video lesson before watching the film and then complete the 'themes' task I have set.

Friday, 15th January 2021.

Hi everyone - well done for making it to Friday! laugh This week has certainly been a learning curve for all of us - me included! I am however extremely proud of all of you for putting so much effort into your online learning - I know it hasn't been easy. I'm always proud of every one of you but this week has shown me just what a truly amazing class I have! Please see below for today's learning overview and have a go at the lessons and tasks I have set. After you have completed your learning, I would like you to put your laptops away and then pick up a book, watch TV, go for a walk, spend time with your family or do whatever else makes you feel happy and relaxed - you've earned it! Hope you and your families all have a lovely weekend. Stay safe and I'll see you all on Monday!

Please watch my online lesson before completing the task. In today's lesson, I am modelling how to edit and improve some of your work from yesterday's task. I would then like you to complete the assessment task on Purple Mash which will show me just how much you have learned about modal verbs this week!

Maths:

Please watch my online video before completing the task. Today, we are moving forward in our multiplication work and applying our skills to varied fluency and problem-solving contexts. Please have a go at the accompanying taks I have set.

English:

In today's English lesson, we are gathering together all of our learning from this week and using it to write our own short story based on the film, 'Little Freak'. Please watch my online lesson first where I carry out a modelled write showing how to turn two sections of yesterday's planner into the first two sections of the story. Then, have a go at writing your own story using the template I have set on Purple Mash. Don't forget to click the green tick to show the success criteria!

P.E.

Please have a look at the P.E. section of our class web page. Mr Crowther has uploaded some P.E. resources and I would like you to choose and have a go at at least two of the tasks. Why not get your parents or siblings involved too?

Hi everyone! I can't believe that we've nearly finished our first full week of online learning! Well done on all the super work you've done so far. I know it isn't easy but I'm really proud of all your efforts! blush You might have noticed that I have now put all of our lessons onto our class web page for you to view. We are continuing our work on modal verbs. Please watch my lesson first and then have a go at using the modal verbs we have been looking at in sentences independently.

Maths:

We are continuing to work on multiplying multi-digit numbers by two digits. Some of you struggled with this work yesterday so I have gone through the method again and set your tasks according to how easy or difficult you found yesterday's work. Don't forget, you can still watch the tutorial I have put on the web page (below) if you need extra help.

English:

We are continuing our work on 'Little Freak'. Please watch my lesson first and then complete the planning activity on Purple Mash.

Art:

Please look at the 'Art Lessons' section of our website and complete the lesson and task that Miss McNeil has set.

Grammar:

We will be continuing our work on modal verbs until the end of the week. For today's task, I have asked you to sort the modal verbs into those showing possibility and those showing certainty. Please watch my online lesson first and then have a go at the task.

Maths:

Following on from yesterday's lesson, today, we will be learning how to multiply numbers by 2 digit numbers using a column method. Please watch my online lesson first and then have a go at the accompanying worksheet. Today's lesson is quite tricky so I have put a tutorial below to give you a little extra help.

English:

As we work towards writing our own version of 'Little Freak', today I would like you to generate good vocabulary for your stories using your senses to help you. Please watch my online lesson first and then have a go at the task.

Science:

We are starting a new unit of work on the circulatory system today and will be focusing on the parts of the body which make up that system. Watch my online lesson first and then have a go at the research task I have put on Purple Mash.

Reading:

Continue reading the book you started yesterday - you will now be on Chapter 2. Please also answer the comprehension questions based on that chapter.

Grammar:

Today's lesson focuses on identifying modal verbs in a passage of text. Please watch the online lesson and then have a go at identifying the modal verbs in the passage I have given you.

Maths:

In today's maths lesson, we will be learning how to use a compact, column method for multiplying numbers by 1 digit. Please be sure to watch the lesson before attempting the worksheet. I have also put a Math Antics tutorial in the maths section of our class web page - have a look at this if you get stuck.

English:

We will be staying with the video 'Little Freak' today and for the rest of the week. Today, we will be writing a setting description, building towards writing our own version of the story by the end of the week. Please make sure you watch my lesson before trying the task.

DT:

In DT, we will be starting a new project - the Eatwell Plate. Watch my lesson first and then complete the brief that I have set online.

Hi everyone! I hope you're all keeping safe and well - I'm really missing seeing you all and hope that we can all get together very soon!

As promised, here is the overview of today's learning:

Grammar:

This week, we are looking at modal verbs. I have uploaded a video lesson to Purple Mash (in the 2Dos section). Watch the lesson first and then have a good at the worksheet I have made to go with it.

Reading:

I have set you all a chapter of a book to read and some comprehension questions based on that chapter. You all have different books depending on where you're up to with your learning.

Maths:

Because most of you really struggled with Friday's maths task, I have uploaded a video lesson on converting fractions to decimals and have given you worksheets to complete based on the lesson. The worksheets are different depending on where you are with your learning.

English:

I have uploaded a video (see below). We will be using this video for all our learning in English this week so please be sure to watch it a few times. I have given you a character profile to complete which you can find on Purple Mash.

PSHE:

I have given you a diary entry to complete on Purple Mash based on your thoughts and feelings about going back to remote learning. Please take your time with this and don't rush - this should be a one hour lesson.
