Sponsor Money 2017 - Outdoor Gym

At the moment, the School Councillors are working extremely hard to investigate how we can spend our Sponsor Money from 2017.  We are investigating how we can use it to buy some outdoor gym equipment for the playground, meaning that we have even more ways to be active during the day!

So far, we have created our dream shopping list, spoken to our classes about the equipment they would like and worked with a strict budget.  We have presented our results to Mr Whalley so we will let you know the results!

Working with Nightsafe

We have decided to raise money and collect useful items for a local charity called Nightsafe.  Nightsafe works hard to provide shelter and support for homeless adults in Blackburn.  In previous years, we have collected food to support the kitchens, toiletries and even socks!

The School Councillors will be discussing fundraising ideas and collections.  Listen out for our ideas!

What do British Values look like at our school?

As a team, we have been thinking about British Values and what they mean to our school.  To make it easier to understand, we have worked hard to create a booklet for every child, explaining what we do so well at Meadowhead Juniors.

Watch this space...our booklet is being printed!

The charity we have chosen to support this year is The Rainbow Trust.  This charity provides support not only for children with life limiting illness, but for their families too.

Our Visit To The Council Chambers

On Thursday 10th November, the School Councillors, Mrs Cottam, Mrs Bates and Mrs Davies went to visit the Mayor of Blackburn.  Take a look at our photos to see what we did!

Who are we?

We are the children from each class, chosen by our classmates because we are hard working and dedicated.  Mrs Cottam says she loves working with us because we never forget things we need to do, we work well as a team and we get the job done.

We held our School Council Elections on Thursday 29th September. What an exciting afternoon! We used real booths, ballot boxes and pencils to vote and we even had signs to tell us to turn our mobile phones off!  Have a look at our photos to find out more.

So who was elected?

Read what our School Councillors feel they have to offer.  Maybe you could suggest an idea to your Class Councillor?
