We think it is so important to celebrate the achievements of all the children who take an active part in the wide range of sports clubs we have on offer at Meadowhead Junior School. At the end of each half term, we will hold a dedicated Sports Assembly. This celebrates the achievement of any child who takes part in an after school club or competition. Children are awarded a certificate for their attendance, effort, enthusiasm and commitment. Parents are invited to the assembly to celebrate their child's achievement hoping it will encourage other children to want to take part and have their family member there to see them. Text messages will go home in advance to invite parents to attend this very special assembly. We want to encourage more children to get active and take part in an after school club to increase their fitness and to give them a wide range of experiences with different sports. Of course we want children to enjoy themselves too . We have a large variety of clubs on offer during the year including; Football, Dodgeball, Tennis, Netball, Handball, Athletics, Archery and many more. We would like children to suggest other sports that we do not offer. We will take their ideas into consideration . Last year 2018/19, 67% of children in school attended an after school club and we are certainly hoping to increase this in any way possible.
The last Sports Assembly was on Thursday 18th July 2019 at 10.00am
It was really, really great to see so many parents/carers attend the last sports assembly to cheer on the children receiving a certificate for their sporting achievements. Thank you to all those who attended. Here are a few photographs of the celebrations.
