Pupil Wellbeing Co-ordinator

Laura Duckworth is Meadowhead Junior School’s Pupil Wellbeing Co-ordinator.

Laura is an experienced Family Support Worker who is available to work with children and parents/carers to establish and maintain positive relationships between school and home. Laura can help parents with a wide variety of problems faced by families such as ‘Family and bedtime routines’, ’Positive parenting skills’ - using a range of strategies to promote good behaviour, ‘Housing issues, benefit and debt advice’ etc.

Laura has information and awareness of the support and services available to families within the local community, and is available for home visits or in school for parents on an informal basis.

Benefit Support

Due to the on going changes being introduced to the Benefit System if any parents require support or wish to make use of the School’s computer/ internet to apply for benefits online please ring Laura on the above number (during term time) for support with this.  Alternatively the main library in Blackburn town centre now has a service called ‘Advice for all’ (Tel: 01254  587979) who will assist with all benefit claims/ problems.
